A Garden Workbook
(aimed at intermediate or advanced level or the enthhusiastic beginner)
We have a wonderful time taking a wider look at gardens through all their forms, dimensions, textures, compositions, details, smells, secrets, plant matter, ideology, mythology, meaning...... and exploring what all this could mean to you or others and how to express that through textile art. Many techniques will be included: including recycling natural materials into your work.
We will be working with workbooks to explore the garden theme and your relationship to it in photos, drawings, textiles and other bits and pieces to develop a personal understanding and interpretation. By the end of the week you should have a piece of work mapped out and ready to go.
The week will include garden visits and trips and lots of information. For more details contact Val.
price: 850€ full board in own room, 800€ if sharing with a friend or partner. 350€ non-embroiderer sharing room included on trips. Materials included.
Dates: 5th - 11th June 2010
Times: Sunday afternoon/early evening arrival for evening meal, Monday morning start. Course from 9.30 to 5.30 every day. Wednesday afternoon free if desired. Saturday morning departure after breakfast. The studio may be open all hours for students wishing to work longer hours. This course is full of visits and extras, we therefore reserve the right to alter the usual evening program of a four course evening meal where necessary.
